February is American Heart Month

Heart health is a challenge for millions of Americans. Half of all Americans are estimated to have at least one of the top three risk factors for heart disease: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking. There are many ways, however, that you can improve your heart health:

  • Don’t start or quit smoking.
  • Manage chronic conditions like high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
  • Eat a healthy diet that is high in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein and low in saturated fat, added sugar, and salt.
  • Stay active.
