Organizational Unit: Dental Providers

Adam Drews, DMD

I joined UCNW in May of 2020.

After completing my undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, I received my Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Illinois. Following a cross country road trip, I completed a residency in general dentistry through NYU Langone at Healthpoint CHC. I have experience in private practice and community health environments, working with patients from backgrounds and cultures.

What I enjoy most about community health is educating and impacting vulnerable populations in the community, and expanding access to care to everyone. In my free time I enjoy playing hockey, pursuing new hobbies, and keeping up with my beloved Detroit sports teams.

Mark Brooks, DDS

I have worked in community health dentistry for over 25 years. I enjoy providing quality dentistry to people in our community.

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University / Medical College of Virginia. I was able to complete a general practice residency at the University of Utah. I worked for the Indian Health Service and for Sea-Mar Community Health Center.

I started working at Unity Care NW in May 2020, at the North Whatcom Health Center facility.

Ashley Kerzman, RDH

I started working at Unity Care NW in July of 2019.

I received my Associates of Applied Sciences of Dental Hygiene from Pima Medical Institute in Seattle and completed my prerequisite Dental Hygiene courses at Bellingham Technical College.

I strive to provide the best patient care while educating both the patient and the public on the importance of oral health.

Kathryn Brighton, RDH

I started working at Unity Care NW in June 2019 and have several years of experience in private practice.  I joined UCNW to have the opportunity to make a difference in the community.   I received my AAS in Dental Hygiene from Shoreline Community College, and my Dental Assisting Certificate from Bellingham Technical College.

I like working in community health because it involves educating and helping people.

Jesse Guzman, DDS

I joined Unity Care NW in March of 2019.

I have been a dentist for 13 years and have experience in private practice, public health, and correctional institution dentistry. Most recently, I was working as the Dental Director for a Native American Tribal Health Clinic in Northern Idaho. Prior to that, I worked as an Associate Dentist at multiple dental clinics in Idaho.

Jonathan Henry, DMD

I joined Unity Care NW in April 2019.

I graduated from the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pittsbugh in 2011 with my DMD. I received my bachelor’s degree in cell biology from Western Washington University, where I also played on the football team.

Since I earned my degree, I have worked as a general dentist in Bellingham, both in private practice and community health.  I am passionate about using my talents and skills to help serve the people in Whatcom County and achieve optimal oral health, especially for low-income families.   I enjoy helping patients become comfortable with going to the dentist!

Chelsea Holcombe, RDH

I started working at Unity Care NW in 2018.

I started my career in dentistry as a Dental Assistant, but wanted to add to my skillset and enrolled in a dental hygiene training program.  Before joining the team at UCNW, I spent four years working in private practice. I also volunteered with homeless and special needs patients, which helped me realize I wanted to work for an organization with a more diverse patient population.

What I like best about working in community health is making a difference in a person’s life!

Rebecca Bosh, RDH

I started working at Unity Care NW in 2018, relocating from Idaho. I was specifically looking for a community health center to share my knowledge and passion for oral health care. I received a Bachelor of Science degree through Idaho State University in 2005. After practicing in a specialty office for several years, I went back to school to obtain a Master’s of Science degree in 2011. I have taught at both Eastern Washington University and Idaho State University as an assistant professor in the dental hygiene programs. At Unity Care NW, I work closely with the dentists to provide restorative needs for our clients. I love working with the community in this setting and that I am able to share information and provide care to those with limited access to oral health care.

Carrie Shane, DDS

I have over 20 years experience as a practicing dentist, including more than 17 years as lead for programs and strategic planning for Unity Care NW’s dental programs in Bellingham and Ferndale.   I earned a DDS from Creighton University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Western Washington University.

I am a member of NNOHA (National Network for Oral Health Access).

John Nickell, DDS

I like working in community health because I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to serve those most in need of health care.

I completed my BS degree in Microbiology at the University of Washington in 1971. I went on to earn a DDS from the University of Washington in 1975. I am a member of the American Dental Association and the Washington State Dental Association.
